Our Mother and Maw Maw, Annie Wilkes Hutchins, gained her angel wings on June 14, 2017. At the gates of heaven, Annie was greeted by: Her mother and father Angus and Estel Wilkes, brother Earl Wilkes, older sister Hazel Watts, and many other brothers and sisters that went before her and also the love of her life, Robert Earl Hutchins.

Annie was born in Chipley, Florida, and lived in Niceville most of her life where she became family and a great friend to many. Annie was Baptist by faith, but celebrated the love of Jesus with other churches and friends in the community. She would always pull her family back on track with scripture when she felt we were walking a different path. Annie had a green thumb and loved to garden, loved the family gatherings, that way she could practice her best hobby - preparing their favorite foods. Chicken and dumplings was one of her specialties as well as pecan pie and blueberry supreme fried shrimp. She loved sitting in the driveway just watching and waving to the folks that passed. One of the common threads Hazel, Annie, and Bonnie had was all three sisters LOVED ELVIS! The favorite part of her day was riding the golf cart with her sister Hazel all around Val P boulevard, she also loved going home to Chipley to visit her baby sister and catch up with the loved ones that still lived there. Of course, some of her greatest accomplishments were her two children, Randy and Judi, but they soon took the back seat when the grandchildren started arriving. She for sure loved all her grands and great grands. And even though dementia took most of her memories you could still see the love and sparkle in her eyes for her family.

Annie is survived by her daughter Judi (husband Mike) Moore, son Randy (wife Felicia) Hutchins, baby sister Bonnie Aukema. The apple of her eyes six grand children who will also serve as pallbearers: Robbie Whitlatch, Ricky Whitlatch, Shawn (wife Jamie) Hutchins, Jason (wife Rhonda) Hutchins, Corey (wife Caitlyn) Hutchins, and Chuck Hutchins. Eight great grandchildren: Cheyenne Whitlatch, Logan Hutchins, Dawson Hutchins, Adyson Hutchins, Jolene Hutchins, Randall Hutchins, Cheyanne Hutchins, and Annalee Hutchins; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Destin Health and Rehab for the love and support that they showed their newest family member (Annie) over the last three years. She was so loved by so many in the nursing home. Maw Maw will be greatly missed here, but knowing of the reunion she is having with her family and our Lord and Savior brings great comfort to us all. We all will join that family reunion one day. Until then, we love you Maw Maw.

Visitation will be held on Saturday June 17, 2017 at 10:00am, with funeral services starting at 11:00am at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home in Niceville, Florida. Malcolm M. Wilks, 84, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Clarice Scarbrough Wilks. The service will be at 11 a.m. EST Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church, with burial at the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. EST today at Beggs Funeral Home Apalachee Parkway Chapel (942-2929). Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308, or to New Hope Baptist Church, New Hope Church Road, Tallahassee, FL 32305.

Born in Washington County on Jan. 19, 1918, he had resided in Tallahassee for the past 62 years. He worked as a carpenter for several local contractors and then, after the Vietnam War, he and his son established M.M. Wilks and Son Builders. They specialized in the restoration of Historical Homes and Buildings in Tallahassee and the surrounding areas

He was a very active member of New Hope Baptist Church and was a member of the Florida Big Bend Unit WBCCI Camping Club. Other survivors include a son, Myron Wilks (and wife Janice) of Tallahassee; a daughter, Dianne Wilks Gregg (and husband Robert) of Tallahassee; four sisters, Viola Wilks of Bonifay, Hazel Watts and Annie Hutchins, both of Niceville, and Bonnie Aukema of Chipley; a grandson, Alan Sellars of Tallahassee; a granddaughter, Kim Tucker (and husband Delwyn) of Crawfordville; three great-granddaughters, Locklyn Tucker, Blair Tucker and Tatum Tucker, all of Crawfordville; and several nieces and nephews.

Joy Carol Aukema Taps, a senior attorney with the Office of the Attorney General of Tallahassee, died Monday, Nov.29, 2005.

She was a native of Chipley and lived in Tallahassee since 1992. she was an active member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church. She fought a courageous battle with breast cancer. Her generosity, loving nature and essential goodness were an inspiration to others.

Survivors include her husband, Marc E. Tapps; parents, Art and Bonnie Aukema of Chipley; brothers, Bob Aukema and wife Sharon of Phoenix, Ariz., Gary Aukema and wife Karen of Chipley; and sisters, Pat Dickson and husband Buddy of Sneads, and Ann Hanson and husband Harvey of Ft. Walton Beach. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and grand-nieces; and a host of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. (CST), Friday, Dec. 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Chipley, with the Revs. Lee Allen and Oliver Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery, with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. (CST), today, Dec. 1, at Brown Funeral Home, on Highway 77 in Chipley.

Those asked to serve as active pallbearers are Jay Dickson, Jay Burrell, Daron Sanders, Ryan Boyd, Adam Kemp, Chris Hanson, Ryan Aukema and Kacey Aukema.

Delores Davis Reeves, 82, passed away on November 14, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Born in Panama City, Florida, her home was Tallahassee for all her adult life. She was a long-time employee of the Leon County School System and proud homemaker to whom family was the great joy of her life.

Her loving and caring daughter, Sharon L. Williams (Victor) survives her, as well as her grandson, Christopher B. Hutchinson (Paige) who brought her much happiness. Son, Larry Reeves; two grandsons, Paul and Garrett Reeves; and three great grandsons also survive her, as do sisters Lucille Windham (J.T.), Louise Owens, and brother, W.P. Davis, Jr. (Elizabeth).

Mrs. Reeves was a devoted mother who loved her family dearly. She will be greatly missed by all. At Mrs. Reeves' request, there will be no memorial service.

Mrs. Howell lived in Florida most of her life before moving to Blackshear in the 1990’s. She had worked as a waitress at several restaurants before becoming a truck driver. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter: Tabitha Fait; sister: Mildred Bessent; and brothers: Junior Wilkes, Ralph Wilkes, and James Wilkes.

William Leonard Wilkes

William Leonard Wilkes, 73, lost his battle with cancer on September 25, 2015, at the Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida. The son of Broward N. and Lizzie Sapp Wilkes, he was born in Cottondale, Florida.

He joined the United States Navy in 1960, serving as a Machinery Repairman 3rd Class on the USS Arcadia during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.
He was a surveyor for the State of Florida, Department of Transportation, for 42 years. For 33 years, he and his wife owned and operated Len's Ceramics.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Tony Glenn Wilkes, and a grandson, and is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda Robison Wilkes, his children, Leonard N. Wilkes (Gail), Elizabeth D. Wilkes (Dwayne), James E. Delaney (Alison), Jason R. Delaney (Amy); his siblings, Donald Wilkes (Martha), all of Tallahassee, Michael Wilkes (Jeannie) of North Carolina, Linda Wood (Ed) of Chipley; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was blessed by close family friends Joey (Eva) and Jamie Vickers, of Tallahassee, as well as a host of other treasured friends and family.

Visitation is 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Abbey Funeral Home.

The funeral is 11:00 AM Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Abbey Funeral Home, with interment following at Tallahassee Memory Gardens.

Betty is survived by her son Dale Burt, of Cheyenne, WY and mother Myrtle Wilks of Thomasville, Georgia. She is also survived by her two grandsons, Chris Burt, wife Sarah, grandchildren Phoenix, Tristan and Jordyn grandson Michael Burt, wife Sarah, grandchildren Amber, Ezra, Bella and Malachi of Cheyenne, WY.

She was preceded in death by her brother David Wilks and her father Curtis Wilks.

Betty was part owner of Parker Cabinet Supply until she retired.

She belonged to the Moose Club and was an Elkette President in 1993-1994.

Betty lived in Steinhatchee until her death and had many friends including Tami and Rick Weaver who were very special to Betty. They gave of their time in caring for her and comforting her during her illness.

Mr. John Howard Wilkes went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 10, 2012. He was born February 5, 1964 in Jacksonville, Florida. John was a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He was an avid fisherman and NASCAR fan who enjoyed life and spending time at the beach, but most of all loved his family and grandchildren.

Mr. Wilkes is survived by: daughters Amanda Wilkes, Tammy Wilkes, and Brittany Wilkes; father Albert Wilkes Sr. (Debbie); brothers Thomas Lee Wilkes (Cheryl) and Albert Wilkes Jr. (Laura); sisters Patricia Wilkes, Margaret Knight, Levada Wilkes Duggar (Dean); (5) grandchildren; (5) nieces; and (7) nephews. John was preceded in death by his mother Charlene Wilkes.

A Memorial Service will be held at a date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospice.
