Dorothy Mae Steedley
Dorothy Mae Harris Steedley, 95, of Nahunta, passed away Wednesday (April 27, 2016) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Nahunta, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Noah Harris and Clifford Amanda Highsmith Harris.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Seward Edgar Steedley, her daughter, Merle Finnette Scarborough, her son, Julian Edgar Steedley, two brothers, Conrade Harris and William Harris, two sisters, Maude Cleland and Solena Steedley, her granddaughter, Anna Lee O'Neal, and her son-in-law, Coleman Prescott.
She was a member of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed planting flowers, crocheting and cooking.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Shirley Steedley, of Folkston; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ann Prescott, of Jacksonville, Jeanette and Buddy Cato, of Nahunta; her daughter-in-law, Linda Marion, of Raybon; nine grandchildren, Richy, Brian, Ronda, Eric, Alan, Chris, Clifford, Amanda and Mischelle; 19 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held this evening from 6 until 9 o'clock at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Frye Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Wainright officiating.
Burial will follow in Little Buffalo Creek Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

Merle Fernett Steedley Westmoreland Scarborough, 65, of Nahunta, died May 31, 2004, at her residence after a long illness.
A native of Brantley County, she was the daughter of the late Seward E. Steedley and Dorothy Mae Harris Steedley of Nahunta.
She attended Riverside Chapel Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She also worked as a seamstress in the clothing industry for many years and graduated from Brantley County High School in 1957.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dick Westmoreland, and a brother, Julian Steedley.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her best friend, Glenn Scarborough of Tampa, Fla.; her children and their spouses, Anna Lee and Jack O?Neal and Richard A. and Amy Westmoreland, all of Jesup; six grandchildren, Angela MacKenzie, J.J. O?Neal, B.J. Witherow, Faith Witherow, Cherity Westmoreland and Alicia Jeanette Cato of Nahunta; a brother, Jimmy Steedley of Nahunta; a special friend, Kay MacNeil of Swainsboro; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held June 3 at the Chambless-Frye Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Wainright officiating.
Burial followed in the family plot at Little Buffalo Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert and Joseph Gary Shipes, Jim Ray Anderson, Shawn Cribbs, Bubba Little and John Holmes.
Chambless-Frye Funeral Home of Nahunta was in charge of arrangements.
