- Sarah Parker Owen died in childbirth and her baby, John Owen, was adopted by his father's sister, Elizabeth, and her husband, Nicholas Parker, but he retained his own name. He later studied medicine and became a physician. His wife Sara Blake was a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
