- Carl McCall Wildes, Sr., 92, of Andrews, a beloved father-grandfather and the husband of Doris W. "Nonnie" Wildes, departed this life on Friday morning, October 30, 2015 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Wildes was born the son of Christopher Columbus Wildes, Sr. and Annie Ardelia Thrift Wildes on July 26, 1923 in Jacksonville, Fl. He was a 1940 graduate of Andrews High School and was a retired employee of Sampit Lumber Mill. He was a United States World War II Navy Veteran and was a member of the DESA-Destroyer Escort Service Association. He enjoyed woodworking and his greatest pleasure and love was spending time with his family.
Carl and Doris was married on September 11, 1948 and celebrated 67 years together. Their home was blessed with: two children, Carl McCall "Tony" (Sarah) Wildes, Jr., and June W. (David) Watford; two grandchildren, Tammy (Lee) McClellan and David "Dave" (Adrienne) Watford II; and four great-grandchildren, Carson Watford, Peyton Watford, Owen Watford, and Wyatt McClellan. He also leaves behind: a sister, Jeneal Moree; and two sister-in-laws, Brenda Wildes and Shelby Wildes.
He was predeceased by: his parents; three brothers, George Wildes, Alexander Wildes, and Christopher Wildes, Jr.; and a sister, Joan Wildes Tyler.
Funeral Service with Military Honors was at 3PM, Sunday, November 1, 2015, at the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The Wildes family received family and friends prior the service from 2-3PM at the Andrews Chapel.
McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wildes family.
