- Henry was born a healthy child and began his youth in a strong and hardy condition. When he was 13 years of age his right leg became continually painful. Doctors were baffled as to the cause and sent Henry to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, and bone cancer in its final stage was diagnosed.
