Deceased Name: Cecil Edward Mixon
Cecil Edward Mixon Sr., 83, died early Saturday morning (March 10, 2007) at his residence following a short illness.
He was a native of Wauchula, Fla., but had resided in Waycross most of his life. He was son of the late John Henry Mixon and Della Taylor Mixon. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Kirkland, and a son, Cecil Edward Mixon Jr.
He was retired from CSX Railroad and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Seventh- Day Adventist Church, Waycross Masonic Lodge No. 305 F&AM, Waycross Shrine Club, Hasan Temple and the Waycross Exchange Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Wildes Mixon, of Waycross; one son, Greg Mixon, of Waycross; one sister, Myrtle Johnson, of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.
