- All Tifton was saddened Saturday afternoon by news of the death, on the previous evening, of Mrs. J.B.C. Blitch, at her old home, near Union, in Stewart County. The remains were brought to Tifton for interment Sunday evening, and were met at the train by a large delegation of Tifton's citizens, who followed them to their last resting place, in Oakridge Cemetery, the local lodge of Odd Fellows, of which Mr. Blitch is a member, appointing the pall bearers. Mrs. Blitch was formerly Miss Lilla Pinkston, of Stewart County, and was married to Mr. J.B.C. Blitch several years ago. For more than a year past, she has resided in Tifton, and won many friends by her sweet, womanly character and upright, Christian life. During the last few months of her stay here, her health was very bad, and despite the utmost medical skill could do, continued to grow worse. At last her husband was forced to give his entire attention to her case, and carried her back to her old home, where death came in a few weeks in the same house where she was born and married. Her death occasions profound sorrow to the many friends of both herself and husband in Tifton, and to the latter we extend sincere sympathy in his deep loss.
