    • Elba Elizabeth Lucas, 92, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Sunday afternoon, June 21, 2020 at the Forest Grove Rehabilitation.

      Private Burial rites will be held at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

      ELBA ELIZABETH LUCAS was born January 9, 1928 in Nashville, Tennessee the daughter of the late James Carlin Swack and Josie Ollie (Greenwood) Swack. She was raised and received her education in the Nashville community, having been a graduate of the West End High School Class of 1945. She later attended the Peabody College, having majored in education. She was united in marriage to Oscar Madison Lucas on March 2, 1946 in Kentucky. They had celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary before Oscar’s passing in 2002. Following their marriage they resided in the communities of Nashville, Tacoma, Chicago, Portland, Kailua, Anaheim,and Eugene when they moved to the Forest Grove community, where they have resided since. Elba was a wonderful homemaker for many years. She was a member of the Dilley Bible Church in Dilley, Oregon, as well as being a part of Helping Hands. Among her special interests, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing piano, and mostly spending time with her family.

      Elba was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Lucas; her parents, James and Josie Swack and by her sisters, Edna Davis and Darleen Swack.

      Survivors include her children and their spouses, Patricia Gregory, of Eugene, Oregon; Elizabeth Lucas, of Batavia, Illinois; Oscar and Vienna Lucas, of Fox Island, Washington; William and Barb Lucas, of Cherry Grove, Oregon; Paula Nichols, of Tempe, Arizona; James Lucas, of Kailua, Hawaii; her sister, Joan Tipton, of West Virginia; her brothers and sisters-in- law, Jimmy and Grace Swack, of Nashville, Tennessee, and John Swack, of Nashville, Tennessee. Also surviving are her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
