- Ms. Betty Jean Murray, better known as ""Nanny"", 83, passed away late Tuesday evening on July 11, 2017 at the UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL following an illness.
She was the daughter of the late Groover and Sallie Peterson Morgan and the widow of Mr. Franklin Noel.
She is preceded in death by one daughter Debra Jean Moss and two brothers, Bruce and Johnny Ray Morgan and a sister Shirley Pitts.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (White Spring Branch). She had made her home in Lake City for the past twenty five years after moving here from Perry, FL. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, sewing, flower arranging, and most importantly spending time with family and fulfilling church callings.
She is survived by her daughters Brenda ""Darlene"" Gunter (Clay) Baytown, TX; Sally ""Denise"" Register (Dennis) Lake City, FL; and Deanna Frances Cook (Mark) Lake City, FL; one brother Morris Morgan (Faye) Hamilton County. Seventeen grandchildren and eighteen greatgrandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Ms. Betty Jean Murray will be conducted Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 4:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1293 Southwest Bascom Norris Drive, Lake City, FL with President Wayne Law officiating. Interment will follow in Green Cemetery located at 416 NE Evanston Ln, Lake City, FL. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday evening at the church from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
