- Janice Howard O’Neal, 64 of Hickox, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 5, 2023 at her residence after an extended illness.
Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. O’Neal’s parents were James Henry Howard and Edna Alvina Miles Howard. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James “Jimmy” Henry Howard, Jr.; a niece, Melissa Crews Hickox; and a nephew, J.W. Ring, Jr.
Mrs. O’Neal was a homemaker and a member of Hickox Praise and Worship. She was known for making people happy, playing games, planning parties, working in her garden, and spoiling her babies and fur babies. Mrs. O’Neal was always making sure everyone was taken care of.
Survivors include her husband, Buster O’Neal of Hickox; a son and daughter-in-law, Timmy Gene O’Neal (Kristy) of Hickox; three daughters and a son-in-law, Becky O’Berry (Donnie) of Hickox, Jennifer O’Neal of Hortense, Hannah Howard of Hickox; seven grandchildren, Alyssa Wilson (Alex), Matthew O’Neal (Cricket), Mark O’Neal, Edna Grace O’Berry, Emily Griffin (Kyle), Edi O’Berry and Hunter O’Neal; two great grandchildren, Anna Gray Wilson and Amelia Kate Wilson; three sisters and brother-in-law, Judy Johns (Demarus), Janine Carroll (David), Janet Herrin (Calvin) all of Hickox; half-sister, Barbara Ring of Nahunta; special loved ones, Melissa Melton and Isaiah Bolds; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A funeral service was held Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Hickox Praise and Worship with Rev. Otis Johns and Rev. Chuck Allen officiating.
Burial followed in Bethlehem Cemetery.
