- Della Lea Balkcom, 89, of Wildwood, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2004.
She was born in LaCrosse. Della and her husband, Evan Sikes, ran the Sikes Dairy on South Street in Leesburg from 1957-1964. She was a member of Potterhouse Church of Wildwood. She was an accomplished seamstress and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Della moved to Wildwood in 1990 from Fort Myers.
Survivors include four sons: Albert Sikes of Wildwood; Donald Sikes of Adamsville; David Sikes of Wildwood; and Jim Sikes of Fort Myers; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one sister: Mattie Smith of Ocala.
She is preceded in death by husbands: Peter Evans Sikes and Clyde Balkcom; son: Gene Sikes.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Page-Theus Funeral Home Chapel, Leesburg, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27 with the Rev. Troy Miller officiating.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palatka Memorial Gardens, 4070 Silver Lake Drive, Palatka. Pall bearers will be Wayne Blake, Ben Sikes, Mark Isom, Jimmy Isom, Len Wilkerson, Ray Carris, with Michael O'Brien serving as honorary pall bearer.
