- Mr. Arthur Douglas "Doug" Patterson, Sr., 62, died Saturday (May 24, 2008) at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, (Duval Co) FL after a brief illness.
He was a very loving husband, father and papa. He was a native of Waycross and had resided here most of his life. He retired as a meat cutter from Food Lion Inc. on March 29, 2008 after 19 ½ years of service and had previously worked for Pantry Pride Grocery Store for 22 years. He was a member of Bible Heritage Church and the Big Swamp Hunting Club.
The survivors include his wife, Terry Vaughn Patterson of Waycross; a daughter, Mary Hickox (husband Opie) of Waycross; a son, Art Patterson (wife Dana) of Waycross; three grandchildren, Dustin Patterson of Valdosta, Dalton Patterson (wife Amber) of Douglas and Taylor Patterson of Waycross; a step-grandson, Todd Hickox of Waycross; a great grandson, Dayton Patterson of Douglas; his parents, H. L. "Pat" Patterson and Margaret Cox Patterson of Waycross; a sister, Joyce Morris (husband Al) of Bristol, TN; two brothers, Allen Patterson (wife Sue) of Woodville, FL and Phil Patterson (wife Bonnie) of Waycross; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Vaughn (wife Jo) of Jesup and Winnie Vaughn (wife Barbara) of Nahunta; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (May 27, 2008) at Music Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will be in the Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday night.
Members of the Big Swamp Hunting Club and employees of Food Lion Inc. are asked to meet at Music Funeral Home 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to serve as honorary pallbearers.
