- Opal Stewart Rogers, 83, of Jesup died Tuesday, August 9, 2016, in Altamaha Healthcare after a short illness. The Wayne County native was a member of Gardi Baptist Church and a former Waynline employee. She loved to fish and listen to Country Music. She was known as a master seamstress who helped her first husband upholster furniture in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Cleveland “Stu” Stewart; second husband, Jay Rogers; sons, Eddie, Kenny, and Gary Stewart; brother, Kenny Driggers; sisters, Lavonia Townsend, Betty Poppell, Ann Poindexter, and Parnie Lee Roberson.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Diann (Steve) Watson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; sons and daughter-in-law, Danny (Tereza) Stewart and Keith Stewart of Jesup; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brother, James Driggers of Jesup; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2016, at Gardi Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Pruitt officiating. Interment will be in Little Creek Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be members of her family.
