    • David Wilson Yarborough - SAVANNAH - David Wilson Yarborough, 92, of Savannah, Georgia, widower of Pauline Margaret Wilson Yarborough died Saturday evening, February 11, 2012, at his home.

Born in Red Springs, North Carolina, he was a son of the late David Yarborough and the late Pauline Yarborough.

Wilson was born to a hard working farm family. He had three brothers and one sister that would all excel in life with various professions. As a child he learned life's real values such as love, honesty, integrity, respect, accountability and the difference between right and wrong. These values followed him throughout his long, happy life. He always laughed while telling early farm stories such as plowing with a mule and riding his part draft horse to school, which was only one room, and letting her graze all day by the school, waiting to return them safely back home. Later on, he enlisted in the Army and fought in World War II, mostly in Italy, for four years. An outstanding soldier and natural leader, he became a Master Sergeant and received many medals and commendations for bravery. After the war, he married Pauline from Savannah and had two children, Johnny and Mildred. His only living brother, Landon along with his wife, Linda, both ordained ministers, will perform the burial ceremony with much love and respect. Wilson was a devoted husband and outstanding father and friends who knew him were never forgotten. He always remembered birthdays and enjoyed attending many of life's events to honor others and share in their happiness. He was a man you could depend on and his word was his bond. He loved to dance to big band music of the '40's and attended many American Legion and Elk dances over the years. He loved all animals and treated them kindness and respect with they so deserve. Just because we can't see you anymore doesn't mean you aren't there. As long as you are in our thoughts and hearts, you are always with us. Nancy, Laura and your family and so many friends will always have you in their hearts.

He is survived by a son, Johnny Yarborough of Naples, Florida; daughter, Mildred Yarborough, of Savannah; and a brother, The Reverend Dr. Charles Landon Yarborough and his wife, The Reverend Linda Yarborough, of Ocala, Florida.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Tuesday morning at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Charles Landon Yarborough and The Reverend Linda Yarborough.

Interment, with full military honors, will be in Greenwich section of Bonaventure.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite animal welfare people or better, adopt a homeless pet. It would make Wilson smile.

Now, go and dance with the angels to Glen Miller and find your dogs, Fritz and Brandi. Find that beautiful horse that always carried you safely to school. Get on him and jump the clouds. Find all of your old friends and be healthy and strong again.

Spanish Oaks Hospice and other caregivers provided him with excellent care the last few years. Dr. Robert Beard always provided the best medical care and support. We were lucky to have had the best.
