Mrs. Peggy Wilkes Lindsey, of Soperton, passed away early Saturday morning, November 4, 2017, at her home.
Born in Soperton, she was the only child born to the late Lowell Vernon and Cuba Sumner Wilkes. She grew up in Soperton and graduated from Soperton High School, Class of 1949 before attending Brewton Parker College and Georgia Southern College, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business. Peggy worked for the Treutlen County School Board for a short time before moving to Atlanta. While living in the Stone Mountain area she began a career in real estate. She worked and obtained her Realtor, Appraiser’s License and Brokers License before returning to Soperton where she worked with Curry Realty in Dublin for several years. She was a lifelong member of Soperton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of forty-five years, Charles Barton “Chuck” Lindsey, of Soperton, children, Charles B. Lindsey, II, and wife, Vickie, of Green Cove Springs, FL, Angie Marie Patterson and husband, Bob, of Port St. Lucie, FL; grandchildren, Aaron Fowler Lindsey and family of Johnson City, TN, and Jessica Marie Paterson of Palm Beach, FL.
Services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 11, with Reverend John Drake and Reverend M. L. Barber officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, on Saturday, one hour before services.
