- Melanie (Polly) Lee Caison, 82, of Columbia, SC, peacefully passed away on December 11, 2024 at Agape Hospice House Lexington, South Carolina surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Whiteville, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Marion Butler and Ella Memory Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Sgt. Major Henry E. Caison and daughter, Wendy Britt.
For many years, Melanie opened her home and heart to countless children, nurturing and guiding them with the same care and devotion she showed her own family, many becoming dear friends for life. Her dogs were a constant source of joy and comfort in her life.
Melanie is survived by one son, Michael Caison; two sisters, Jacquelyn Hastings (Bill), Shirley Edwards (Keith); one brother, John Butler (Roxanne); one grandchild, Christopher Britt, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the special group of ladies that assisted and loved her as she was under their care. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation at HPCF PO Box 151 Drayton, SC 29333. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
