- Gloria Ann Rountree Wilcher, 72, of Twin City entered into rest on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Wilcher was a native of Emanuel County, the daughter of the late George Ivy and Annie Louise Sconyers Rountree, a homemaker, and a member of Euphrates Primitive Baptist Church in Glascock County. She was a member of the Order of the Easter Star No. 462, and had retired from Jefferson County Senior Transportation.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, Swainsboro, with Elder Tommy Rountree and Elder Gary Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Louisville City Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William Harold Wilcher; grandson, George William Lindsey; and brothers, George Robert Rountree and James Allen Rountree.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John Michael "Mike" and Nancy Ridgdill of Twin City; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Ann and Don Lindsey of Pelham; daughter raised as her own, Melissa Guinn of Twin City; granddaughters, Michelle Lindsey Shoe of Pelham, Stephanie Ridgdill (Tim) Matthews of Twin City, and Kristina Lindsey of Pelham; grandson, John Michael Ridgdill Jr. of Twin City; great-grandchildren, James Clayton Akins and Anna Morgan Lane, both of Twin City, and William Timothy Shoe of Pelham; sister, Mary Edith White of Twin City; brothers, John Emmitt (Lynn) Rountree, Elder Tommy (Dottie) Rountree and Don W. Rountree, all of Swainsboro, Roy Joe (Catherine) Rountree, and David B. (Cindy) Rountree, all of Statesboro; sister-in-law, Pat Rountree of Twin City; two stepsons, Danny L. Wilcher (Sherry) of Louisville, and Walter Harold "Butch" Wilcher of Swainsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Tommy Gene White, Toby Johnson, Don Rountree, Roy Rountree, David Rountree and Emmitt Rountree.
Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
