Obituary:
Mr. Robert Allen "Bob" Johnson, 62, passed away Tuesday evening (December 6, 2011) at his residence following a sudden illness.
Born in Blackshear, GA on August 30, 1949, he had lived in Offerman for many years before moving to Waycross five and a half years ago. He was a disabled Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict. While in the Army, Mr. Johnson received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Silver Star. Mr. Johnson was a member of New Life Assembly of God and loved to garden, cook on his grill and see the world. He dearly loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Jake & Maggie Cason. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Gill Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Varnadore Johnson of Waycross; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina & Richard Daniels of Jesup; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark & Sheri Johnson of Waycross; two step-daughters and step sons-in-law, Tara & Andy Peacock of Waycross and Heather & Trevor Brown of Patterson; two step sons and a step daughter-in-law, Caleb & Holly Lancaster and Josh Lancaster all of Waycross; three sisters, Joy (Joe) Redfern and Bertha (Troy) Hickox all of Patterson and Mary Cumbie of Jacksonville; two brothers, J.R. Johnson and Monroe (Mary Ann) Johnson all of Patterson; 9 grandchildren, Dawson Daniels, Jacob Daniels, Katlyn Daniels, Meghan O'Steen, Tyler Johnson, Ashton Peacock, Bryce Peacock, Addie Brown and Abrielle Lancaster and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
Visitation:
Visitation for Mr. Johnson will be held Thursday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
Service:
Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held Friday afternoon, December 9, 2011, at 2 pm at the New Life Assembly of God.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Offerman Cemetery.
