  	Neal Archie Wilkes, 73, of Orangeburg, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Jim Parnell officating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg. He was born Dec. 15, 1938, in Orangeburg, the son of the late Norman Archie Wilkes and the late Jacqueline Hodges Wilkes Wactor. He was a 1963 graduate from The Citadel. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was a retired engineer from the Atlanta Highway Department and was a member of First Baptist Church in Atlanta. Survivors include his sister, Dixie Shealy of Orangeburg; a niece, Sheila Ann Shealy of Charleston; and a nephew, Michael Shealy of Clarksville, Tenn. Copyright 2012 The Times and Democrat.
