- BURLINGTON - James Harold Ashe, 98, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Hospice Home. He was born in Franklin to the late Lonnie William and Mina Victoria Wilkes Ashe and was married for 39 years to Anna Taylor Ashe, who survives. He was formerly employed by Associated Transport and was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church. He was a talented welder who could make almost anything.
He is survived by his wife of the home; daughter, Yvonne (Ralph) Grow, of Virginia; stepdaughter, Dolores Apple, of Graham; stepson, Jimmy Henderson, of Elon; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, William Claude Ashe, of Franklin, and Tearl Francis Ashe, of Sylvia. He was preceded in death by his son, James "Jimmy" Harold Ashe Jr., an infant son, parents and three siblings.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Grove Park Baptist Church by the Rev. Bill Vickrey with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday before the service at the church.
