Mr. Earl Powell, age 63 of Vidalia, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Vidalia, was employed at Lee Ace Hardware in Vidalia for twenty-one years, and Southern Hardware and P&P Trucking for several years. He was a member of the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church, Milliken Creek Masonic Lodge #302, and was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mildred Calhoun Powell.
Mr. Powell is survived by three children, Don Powell and wife Trelawney of Vidalia, Shannon Powell and wife Cindy of Ailey, and Angie Hitchcock and husband Rodney of Cedar Crossing; three brothers, A.J. “Bo” Powell of Vidalia, James Powell and wife Iwonia of Statesboro, and Wayne Powell and wife Susan of Vidalia; eleven grandchildren, Brandon, Summer, Jacob, Aniston, Emerson, Nicole, Landon, Ashley, Brooke, Madison, and Hunter, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16th at 10:00 am in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
Memorial contributions may be made to Milliken Masonic Lodge.
