- Juanita Gusta Bryson Brewer, 75, of Edward Fowler Rd., in Cashiers passed away Wednesday, December 9 at Highlands Cashiers Hospital.
She was born in Jackson County and was the daughter of the late Walter "Walt" A. and Sally Underwood Bryson. She was a retired Supervisor for the AT&T Telephone Company and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Penrose, N.C. She loved quilting, loved trees and planting flowers. She loved going to church and meeting new people and loved to travel. She also enjoyed poems written by her husband, Gary.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Brewer; a step son, Rich Brewer of Hendersonville; three sisters, Chole Bevil of Asheville, Mamie Peeler of Franklin and Geneva Hooper of Cullowhee; and one brother, Hayes Bryson of Cashiers. Six nieces and eight nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Villella and two brothers, Ralph and Herbert C. Bryson.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 10 at Pine Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 11 at Pine Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Norris officiating. Burial was held at Stewart Cemetery. Kenneth Villella, Rick Brewer, Rich Brewer, Kent Hinkley, Alejandro Ayala Medina and Carlos Mojica served as pallbearers.
