Deceased Name: ERNEST M. COGGINS
Ernest Monroe Coggins, 61, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999. A native of Jackson County, N.C., he had been a Peninsula resident for 39 years. Mr. Coggins retired in 1999 as a school teacher from Benjamin Syms Middle School, Hampton, after 38 years of service.
Survivors include five sisters, Katherine Potts of Seattle, Wash., Stella Parker of Tuckasegee, N.C., Ruby Coggins, Ruth Wilson and Kim Poteet, all of Cullowhee, N.C.; two very close friends, Dallas Samuel of Newport News and Joe Tate of Virginia Beach; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at the W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, at the chapel of W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence W. Hilling officiating.
Mr. Coggins will be taken to Melton-Riddle Funeral Home in Sylva, N.C., for services and interment.
