- Thomas “Tom” William Harper, 62, of Elkton, Virginia and formerly of Ruddle, West Virginia, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, Virginia after having fought a courageous battle with Atypical Parkinson’s Disease, Corticobasal Degeneration, for the past four years.
He was born December 15, 1953 in Petersburg, West Virginia and was the son of the late Richard L. Harper and Louise Bradfield Harper.
Tom was a 1972 graduate of Franklin High School. He served 8 years in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 - 1980 and later worked as a sales representative with LBM Office Solutions in Lynchburg, Virginia. He worked at Harrisonburg Auto Auction and was a volunteer at Sentara RMH. Tom was a member of the Upper Tract Presbyterian Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed riding his motorcycle to West Virginia, watching NASCAR, the Miami Dolphins, the Washington Nationals and the WVU Mountaineers. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and brother who never met a stranger. He was proud of his West Virginia heritage and equally proud of his service in the U.S. Armed Forces.
On November 26, 1992, he married, Gayle Campomezzi Harper who survives.

A time of remembrance and sharing will begin at 7:30 PM Tuesday at Kyger Funeral Home with Mark Briehl and family members officiating.
