Charlene Marie Johnson Wilkes, 47, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011 in Callahan, Florida from a long, courageous battle with lung cancer. She was a long time member of Gray Gables Baptist Church.
Charlene’s unwavering faith in the Lord continued until she was called home. She leaves behind a devoted, loving husband, Albert Wilkes Jr., a mother, Betty Arlene Johnson, two sisters, Patricia Provost and brother-n-law Buzz, and Debbie Breedwell. A brother, Robert Johnson Jr. and his wife Jackie, as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind numerous brother and sister-n-laws. Charlene also leaves behind her father- n-law, Albert Wilkes Sr. and his wife Deborah Wilkes. She is proceeded by her father, Robert Lanier Johnson, her stepfather John Johnson, and mother-n-law, Charlene Singleton Wilkes.
Charlene was a devout employee of Wells and Drew for seventeen years and Football Fanatics for 6 months. The things that brought her the most pleasure and joy while here with us were sitting outside, riding the four wheeler with Albert, reading and spending precious, quality time with family. She also enjoyed the company of her precious pets, Buddy, Chico, Maggie, Jack, Molly, Tabby, and Fluffy. She also liked to collect Angels, Humming Birds and Coca-Cola figurines.
The family wishes to thank Northeast Florida Community Hospice for their love, time, and compassion during this sensitive time in our lives, and would also like to thank Dr. Yuval Z. Naot, M.D. and his staff for their outstanding support and professional courtesy during this most difficult time. We would also like to thank our church family for the overwhelming love and support.
The family will receive friends on Monday February 28, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Nassau Funeral Home . Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday March 1, 2011 at Gray Gables Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. With Pastor Jeff Walker officiating.
