Death	Burnet Wilkes: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Richmond County Daily Journal (Rockingham, NC) - Friday, January 13, 2006 Deceased Name: Burnet Wilkes Mr. Burnet Wilkes, 88, of 130 Rogosin St., Rockingham, died Wednesday. Jan. 11, 2006, at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 22, 1917, son of the late Daniel Thomas Wilkes and Maggie Brigman Wilkes. He was supervisor at Avondale Mills. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country during WWII. He was a member of Jesus First Free Will Baptist Church, East Rockingham's Mens Club, and a life member of the Purple Heart Association. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jesus First Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Smith and the Rev. Frank McQuage officiating. Burial will be at Richmond Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Gathings Wilkes; and a son, Jimmy Wayne Wilkes. He is survived by his son, Burney Ray Wilkes of Rockingham; sister, Margaret Quick of South Carolina; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Jesus First Free Will Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Jesus First Free Will Baptist Church, 1109 Hylan Ave., Hamlet, NC 28345.
