Virginia Sue Wilkes, 81, passed away, Sunday, February 6th at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 8, from 5 until 7 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson. A Graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 9th at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson.
Ms. Wilkes was born on October 31, 1929 to the late Vernon Gillis and Myrtle Patterson Gillis. She later met and married the love of her life, the late Mr. Carroll L Wilkes.
Ms. Wilkes was a beauty shop manager for over 30 years. She loved cooking and working in her yard. She also loved to travel. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her children, Michael Wilkes (Rowland "Woody" Woodruff) of Diamondhead, MS and Sherry Guynes (Ronald)of Madison, MS; grandchildren, Gavin Guynes (Laura Beth) and Garrett Guynes; and great grandchild, Audrey Grace Guynes.
