Mr. James Robert Thomas, 48, of Lake City died Sunday morning, December 23, 2007, at Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City following a lengthy illness. A native and lifelong resident of Lake City, Mr. Thomas was an excellent craftsman making cabinets and furniture, and loved motorcycles. Mr. Thomas was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his father Edward L. Thomas in 1976.
Mr. Thomas is survived by three sons, James Robert Thomas, II, James Brandon Thomas, and John Edward Thomas all of Lake City; four daughters, Alicia Oleane Williams (Shawn), Alabama, Sarah Thomas, Kayla Thomas, and Jessica Brady (Travis); his mother, Catherine Thomas Dicks; grandmother, Eleonor Eckert; one brother, Edward Thomas, Jr. four sisters, Joyce Cheshire (Russell), Nancy Royals (Eugene), Sandra Cook (Larry), and Becky Powers (Gene) all of Lake City; four grandchildren also survive.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Thomas will be conducted Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery on HWY 100 in Lake City with Marion Powell officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation with the family will be held from 2:00-2:30 Wednesday afternoon before the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center 6037 Highway 90 West, Lake City, FL 32025.
