3803 Marriage and Life
Added by darlenee21 http://www.ancestry.com/community/member/profile.aspx?cba=darlenee21 on 5 Sep 2008

At eighteen, Minerva married John "Jack" Childress. There has been some confusion about his given name. He is mentioned as both John Childress and Jack Childress; although, Jack is a fairly common nickname for John.

After the birth of their first child, Eliza, the family moved to Bessemer, Alabama.

About 1852, they moved to Daingerfield, Texas, and by 1856 they were living in Kosse, Texas.

After her husband's death, Minerva operated a hotel in Rockdale, Texas. When she retired she went to Corsicana, Texas and lived with her son James Thomas Childress until her death in 1926.

Minerva is buried in Corsicana, Texas, and her husband is buried in Kosse, Texas.
