    Mrs. Dessie Lee Moody Crews, 92 of Patterson, passed away early Saturday morning, October 4, 2014, at her residence.

    Born in Hortense, GA on January 12, 1922, she had lived in Pierce County most of her life. Mrs. Crews was retired from the Pierce County Board of Education where she had worked in the lunchroom at Grady Street School. She had also helped her late husband, Alvin Crews, on the family farm and was a homemaker. Mrs. Crews was a member of Laura Chapel Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and waiting on her children and grandchildren.

    She was a daughter of the late Benjamin & Mattie Strickland Moody. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Iris Moore; and by a brother, Norman Moody.

    Survivors include a daughter, Latrelle & Jimmy Hall of Patterson; five sons, Lawton & Sandra Kay Crews of Waycross, Nelson & Jackie Crews of Patterson, Robert & Pam Crews of Odum, David Crews of Blackshear and Lee Crews of Patterson; a brother, Kiteley “K.E.” Moody of Hortense; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.

    Visitation for Mrs. Crews will be held at the graveside one hour prior to the service.

    Graveside services for Mrs. Crews will be held Tuesday morning, October 7, 2014, at 11:00 o’clock from the Laura Chapel Cemetery.

    Dessie married Alvin Ralston Crews on 17 Nov 1939. Alvin (son of Benjamin Brantley Crews and Living) was born on 15 Nov 1919 in Patterson, Pierce, Georgia, USA; died on 8 Jun 2002; was buried in Laura Chapel Cemetery, Pierce, Georgia, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
