Services for John G. "Jake" Johnson, 67, will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 13, 2001, at Prospect United Methodist Church. The Revs. Bud Boatwright, Homer Hinson and Paul Cheezem will officiate with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson died Tuesday, April 10, 2001. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Malone and Bessie Johnson Johnson. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church and retired as owner and operator of Johnson Repair Service.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Wilks Johnson of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Peggy Johnson of Hartsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherrie and Kenny Cassidy of Chesterfield, Becky and Rick Phipps of Florence, Denise and Adam Gilbert of Hartsville; sisters, Lina Mae Alexander of Matthews, N.C., and Georgia Johnson of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Amy Cassidy, Carrie C. Walters, Jonathan Phipps, Megan Johnson, Ashley Phipps, April Gilbert, Amy Gilbert; great-grandchild, Charity Walters. He was predeceased by his brothers, Russell Johnson and Monroe Johnson.
