Betty Louise West
Betty Louise West, age 60, died suddenly Sunday afternoon, January 13, 2002, at home.
Betty was born December 12, 1941, to the late Alfred and Josephine Geesing Verkamp, in Fort Smith, Ark. She was a resident of Durham for more than 30 years.
Betty was an active member of Holy Infant Catholic Church who served as a lector and faithfully participated in the church prayer group.
She was employed at GTE for 26 years before her retirement in 1992.
Betty is survived by her loving husband, of 41 years, Larry West, of Durham; and three children, Laura McMillion and husband, Gene, of Greenville, S.C.; Daniel West and Gregory West, both of Durham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Infant Catholic Church on Highway 54, with Father John McGee, OSFS, presiding. Burial will follow later that day in Spiveys Corner.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in Betty's memory, to Holy Infant Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 5000 Southpark Drive, Durham, N.C. 27713-9470.
