    J. 0. Milton Prominent Citizen Buried Friday

    James Oliver Milton, 74, died at his home, in Macclenny, Wednesday night, following a stroke on Sunday morning, Nov. 21st. (1943)

    Mr. Milton was born Sept. 14, 1869, near Quitman, Brooks County, GA, but had spent the greater part of his life in Baker County. He was married to Lou Dicey Rhoden, daughter of the late H. D. Rhoden, at Macclenny on December 12, 1888, at her home by Rev. Dr. Tyner.

    When the writer first came to Macclenny in 1905 Mr. Milton was one of the town's leading merchants and citizens. Later he sold out and moved to Pensacola. FL and Laurel. Miss. but returned here after a few years and has since made his hone. He was Postmaster here for about six years and during his prime took an active part in the, political and social life of Macclenny.

    Mr. Milton is survived by three sons, Dexter R. Milton, .0. Grady Milton and Quinton T. Milton, three daughters, Miss Agnes Milton, Mrs. Gladys Milton Nolan, and Miss Maxine Milton, all of Macclenny, eleven grandchildren and a brother, D. V. Milton, Tampa.

    Funeral services were conducted at 3 O'clock Friday afternoon at the Baptist Church, Macclenny, with the Rev. A. Walters of Hillard and the pastor, Rev. E. B. Jenkins, officiating.

    Interment was in the family lot,at Woodlawn cemetery under the direction of Seashole Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

    Pallbearers were, active: J. A. Burnett, B. J. Padgett, Frank Dowling, R. J. Davis, B. F. Jones, G. W. Garrett, Honorary: Asa Coleman, Jr., W. M. Brown, Geo. R. Williams, H. F. Powers, D. W. Finley, J. D. Dugger, C. L. Hodges, Walter Dykes, Ray Dinkins, Tate Powell.

    M. M. Milton

    Mr. Marshall M. Milton died suddenly at this home about eight miles south of Quitman last Thursday night Feb. 26, of heart failure. He was about seventy years old and leaves a wife and several married children. Mr. Milton was a good man and fine citizen and was a deacon in Union
    Baptist Church and a man who faithfully discharged the obligations of life. He was buried at Union Cemetery, the services being conducted by his pastor, Rev. S. A. Cross, last Saturday morning.

    (Note: Mr. Marshall Monroe Milton died on February 27, 1920. He was the son of David R. and Sarah Utley Milton)

    ____________________________ Last Rites Held For Mrs. Milton

    The many friends of Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Milton throughout South Georgia were grieved to learn of her death which occurred early Saturday morning at the home of her grandson, E. R. Collins in Barwick. Mrs. Milton was 90 years of age and had resided in Brooks county practically all her life. She was well known and loved by many friends, not only in Brooks county but throughout this section.

    Mrs. Milton was born in South Carolina 90 years ago, a child of the late Mrs. and Mrs. John Jarvis. She moved to Brooks county as a child and in 1876 was married to Marshall M. Milton. She was a consecrated member of the Baptist church and exemplified those fine virtuous traits which made her a favorite with many friends.

    Funeral services were held from the home in Barwick Sunday afternoon with Rev. C. M. Smith officiating and interment followed at Union cemetery. The McGowan-Maxwell Company of Quitman had charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Milton is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. W. J. Duggar, of Barwick, Mrs. J. A. Horne of Jacksonville, Mrs. T. D. Boone, Sr. of
    Savannah, J. A. Milton of Quitman and W. H. Milton of Cordele. She is also survived by several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
