    Obituary:
    Funeral services for Lillian Chandler Wilkes, 85, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Julius Hadden, the Rev. Dale McCluney and Jessie Tanner will officiate with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends Sunday, November 28, 2010 from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Wilkes entered the gates of heaven and walked into the arms of her Savior Friday, November 26, 2010.

    Born in Darlington Co., SC, she was a daughter of the late Daniel T. and Zelma Weaver Chandler. She was a long time faithful member of Twitty United Methodist Church, a member of the Red Hat Society, and enjoyed visiting groups (XYZ, Amity, Temple Treasures) at various churches. She worked at several textile mills, GE Mobile Radio, and was last employed at what she considered her most rewarding job as infant day care worker at the Hartsville YMCA where each child was loved as her own. Her love of life and her family overflowed into the lives of all she met. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, and the fellowship she shared with her many friends.

    Surviving are her daughter, Betty Wilkes Coxe of Florence, SC; grandsons, Kendrex E. (Beth Hanna) Coxe and Michael L.Coxe, both of Florence, SC; great-grandchildren, Landrey Coxe, Alex Reynolds, Charlton Hanna, Macy Hanna, Damon Hanna. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Alston W. Wilkes; brothers, James Chandler and Wallace B. Chandler; sisters, Minerva B. Williamson, Ruth C. Richards, Rachel C. Player.
