    CLAXTON - G.B. Hodges, 87, died March 2, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean and his brother and sister-in-law, Holmes and Mary Ann Hodges.

    Survivors: son, Ricky (Beverly) Hodges of Reidsville; daughter, Nancy (Johnnie) Crosby of Shellman Bluff, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Carl Lee and Linda Collins of Claxton; three grandsons, Rev. John (Jo) Crosby of Guyton, Gavin (Anna) Hodges of Reidsville and Nathan (Lindsay) Hodges of Reidsville; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    Visitation: March 4, 5-8:00 p.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.

    Funeral: March 5, 11:00 a.m., at Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church.

    Burial: Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

    George Brinson (G.B.) Hodges Jr., born on January 7, 1923, passed away March 2 at the age of 87.

    The Tattnall County native was a Deacon of Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church. A kind and gentle man, he has been a friend to all who knew him.

    G.B. retired after 25 years service as a plant industry inspector for seed, feed, fertilizer and grain for the Department of Agriculture, for the State of Georgia. Farming was his primary occupation throughout his lifetime. During WWII he worked for the Seaboard Railroad and in the early 1950s he and his wife, Jean, managed the Travelers Inn Restaurant next door to the G.B. Hodges Motel in Claxton, Ga. His son and grandsons now own and operate his farm.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Powell Hodges, and his brother and sister-in-law, Holmes and Mary Ann Hodges.

    Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Beverly Hodges of Reidsville, Ga.; one daughter and son-in-law, Johnnie and Nancy Crosby of Shellman Bluff, Ga.; one brother and sister-in-law, Carl Lee and Linda Collins of Claxton; three grandsons and grand-daughters-in-law, the Rev. John and Jo Crosby of Guyton, Ga., Gavin and Anna Hodges of Reidsville and Nathan and Lindsay Hodges of Reidsville; five great-grandchildren, Erin, Wesley and Jeffrey Crosby, and Kennedy and Caroline Hodges.

    Visitation will be Thursday, March 4, 5:00- 8:00 p.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.

    Funeral services will be held Friday, March 5, 11:00 a.m., at Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bay Branch Church Cemetery.

Mildred (daughter of Jesse Allen Powell and Ola Harriet Sapp) was born on 1 Nov 1925 in Manassas, Evans, Georgia, USA; died on 21 Jul 2004 in Evans Memorial Hospital, Claxton, Evans, Georgia, USA; was buried on 24 Jul 2004 in Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Claxton, Evans, Georgia, USA.
