!This Cannon Cason apparently died in the Rev. War leaving a large family. !Census: 1790 Census Heads of families for the Fayette District of Sampson County lists Charity Cason as head of family with 3 white males of 16 and upwards, no white males under 16, 4 white females including heads of families, and 1 slave.

Died in Revolutionary War and his wife, Charity, was listed as head of household in 1790 census.

I Charity Caison of the County of Sampson and state of North Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory ... on this first day of January one thousand eight hundred and eight do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say first and ... to my son-in- law Jonathan Fryer five shillings to him and his heirs.
Item I give and bequeath to my son Hillery Cason five shillings to him and his heirs
Item I give and bequeath to my son Cannon Cason five shillings to him and his heirs

Sampson County, North Carolina Deed Book 2, p. 385 Registered: Grantor: Alexander Chesnutt and Sarah, his wife Grantee: William Cason Witnesses: Charles Chesnutt, David Chesnutt Acreage: 225 Consideration: 10 pounds Description: "'On the west side of Six Runs.' Deed mentions Dave Chesnutt, 'a little branch,' and Reedy Branch. Land was part of a tract of 540 acres granted to Alexander Chesnutt by patent dated 30 March 1756."

!Descendants: According to E. L. (Boe) Williams, a Caison genealogist, William Caison had several sons: John, who moved to Brunswick Co; Hillery, who remained in Sampson Co; and Cannon who married Charity Hollingsworth and died in the Revolutionary War. !Spouse: Boe Williams suggests the William Caison may have married twice, since his family was closely connected to the Chesnutt family. !Parents: from Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia, Vol 7, p. 79 Believed to be the son of James Cason who died in Princess Anne Co., Va. in 1723. William was the administrator of James' estate.
!Emigration :from Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia, Vol 7, p. 79 He moved to Beaufort co, North Carolina in 1723 and settled in the portion that became Pitt co. in the 1760's. He was granted land in 1740 in Beaufort co. - the same bordering on a stream called "Cason's Run" and George Moye's land. 1758 William made a deed of gift to three of his children: Henry, Hillery, and Elizabeth (the youngest dhildren). Wife was apparently dead by this time. 1746 Colonial tax records of Beaufort Co. shows William "Casson" a tax-payer with nine people in his household. 1760 tax records show him living with his son, James. 1762, living with his son Hillery.
