INTARTAGLIA, Elizabeth Honaker, "Liz" 91, a longtime resident of Tampa, FL, passed away peacefully December 6, 2017 in her longtime South Tampa home. She is remembered by family and friends for her loving kindness to all, her loyalty to family and friends, and her generosity that was demonstrated in many ways.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at Blount Curry Funeral Home in Tampa, FL, Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 1 pm. Interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11 am.

Elizabeth, "Liz", as she was affectionately known to her friends and family, was born on Lewis Creek in Honaker, VA to Leonard and Bessie (Stump) Honaker, September 13, 1922. She went to high school at Honaker High School in Honaker, VA and graduated in 1942. She worked at a number of jobs during her life, from trolley driver to waitress, but is best known for the many years she spent with local grocer, Simon Schwartz's Market, on South MacDill. Liz was involved in many charities and organizations during her life. She was an active member of the Bayshore Methodist Church, conveniently located across the street from her home, for over 60 years.

The third of nine children, Liz moved with her parents and siblings throughout Virginia and Kentucky as her father pursued sawmill employment. She attended a one-room school until the sixth grade. She could mesmerize her family with stories of growing up without electricity, running water, or the other conveniences of modern day life as well as her family's hardtimes during the Great Depression. She was well known throughout the community for her compassion for others and her willingness to assist with a helping hand to those in need. Artistic talent was present in her family; her father was a well-known woodcarver and folk artisan whose many carvings depicting events and characters from his life have won awards and have been displayed prominently throughout Virginia. Many of his carvings were donated to the Southwest Virginia Museum. Liz's talents ran in the musical direction, she could competently play tunes on a washboard, with the spoons and the acoustic guitar as well as sing, but it was her ability to yodel which would always delight her children, family and friends. Liz was proud of her heritage and worked closely with the Honaker Family Association to document and celebrate the family's history. She is survived by sisters, Ruth, Margaret, and Phyllis; and preceded in death by Annabelle, Irene, and Lucille; brothers, Paul and Dave. She is also survived by eighteen nieces and nephews, many of whom remember her fondly as a surrogate grandmother.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Proctor Prescott, of Folkston, GA and her second husband, Vincent Francis Intartaglia, of Brooklyn, NY, both of whom served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

She is survived by her three children with Paul P. Prescott, Ronald Eugene Prescott of Honolulu, HI and his wife, Chong, Mary Elizabeth Wooten of Brandon, FL, Paul Douglas Prescott of Newport Beach, CA and his wife, Michelle; her three grandchildren from her daughter Mary, Alyssa Liebe, Jeffrey Wooten, his wife, Caroline, and Chad Wooten; her two grandchildren from her son, Paul, Max Prescott and Pamela Prescott; her three great-grandchildren from Alyssa Liebe, Taylor, Edyson and Payton; and her great-grandchild from Jeff and Caroline Wooten, JJ.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to caregivers, Shirley Fanning, Griswold Home Care, and Elizabeth De Silva.
