    Notes:

    Died:
Ronald E. (Ron) Boyer, 66, of Ashantilly, died June 24, 2014 while vacationing on Great Guana Cay, Abacos, Bahamas.

Ron was born January 20, 1948, in Ottawa, Kansas. He graduated from Ottawa Senior High School in 1966, where he held records in football as well as track and field. He served in the United States Navy from 1968 until 1972 attaining the rank of ADJ 3rd Class. While in the Navy, he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Following his military service, Ron settled in Brunswick, Ga., where he worked for Watch Security, later moving to Darien where he worked for Alltel and worked diligently to build his landscaping business, McIntosh Lawn Service.

Of all his interesting hobbies, Ron will perhaps be best remembered for his woodworking and culinary skills. His handcrafted clocks and cutting boards are true works of art, and anyone who has a piece of his handcrafted outdoor furniture is fortunate indeed. He not only enjoyed this hobby very much, he also enjoyed giving the items to friends and family and participating in arts and crafts festivals. In addition to his woodworking, abilities, he operated what was lovingly called "The Purple Turtle," a concession wagon from which he sold cotton candy, nachos, pickles and popcorn. After he gave up traveling to festivals, he often donated cotton candy to various schools and organizations.

Those who knew Ron know how he loved to cook. He especially loved cooking for a crowd, especially outdoor cooking. Whenever any new kitchen gadget came out, he would be one of the first to buy one. Many of his friends were blessed to receive jars of his home-canned tomatoes, salsa, and pickles as well as his famous homemade chex mix and beef jerky. Tournament fishing was another hobby he enjoyed with the Roadrunner Fishing Team.

Ron was and always will be known as a hard worker and a man with a heart of gold. He always tried to give back to his friends and to his community in any way he could. He was a past member of the Jaycees and the Lions Club, and was a football coach at The Boys Club in Glynn County.

Family was of utmost importance to Ron and the thing he loved and valued most.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Reddell and Nina Boyer; a son Casey Eugene Boyer; and father-in-law Clayton McWilliams, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Linda McWilliams Boyer, step-daughter, Carley Luke, and step-son Jake Luke, all of Ashantilly; a daughter, Julie Toler (Joe) and granddaughters Piper and Phenix of Mt. Pleasant, Ga.; a son, Brian Boyer (Theresa) and grandsons Luke and Brody and step-granddaughters Callie and Alyssa of Brunswick; a son, Justin Boyer of Darien and granddaughter A'layziah of Brunswick; a daughter, Liz Ferrell (Justin) and grandson Preston and granddaughter Sophie of Brunswick; a sister, Connie Morris (Steve); and a niece, Amanda Morris of Florence Colorado.

Visitation will be announced later. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, or to the charity of donor's choice.

Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
