Mrs. Kate M. Cason Alexander, 81, of Lake City passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at HCA Florida Lake City Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Ft. White, Florida she was the daughter of the late Carl C. and Wilma Douglas Cason and had been a resident of Ft. White and Lake City all of her life. Kate was employed with the Columbia County School System for 27 years and enjoyed playing the piano, reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting, and was a member of Athens Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bert Alexander, son, Delbert Alexander; 9 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by her son, Steve Alexander (Donna); grandchildren, Brad Alexander (Evelyn), Amber Craig (Woody Lynch), and Danielle Olson (Zach); 5 great grandchildren, Kiley, Aubree, Kayson, Crosley, and Hayes; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Alexander will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mark Spradley officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home from 2:00-3:00 P.M. (1 hour before service). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Athens Baptist Church, 9090 CR 240, Lake City, FL 32024.
