Lavon N. Waters passed away peacefully at the age of 83 at home in Jacksonville, FL on February 10th, 2022.

She was born in Raiford, Fl to Ruffin and Ethel Griffis.

She married Ressie Waters, Jr. on July 2, 1952. She worked at King Edward Cigar Factory until she
retired at the age of 60. She loved gardening, reading, socializing, traveling, singing, square dancing, yard sale shopping, playing with her kindle, and being with her family and dog Nellie. She was a dedicated member of Lannie Road Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Ressie Waters Jr. Her parents Ruffin and Ethel Griffis, brothers Herman Griffis, R.J. Griffis, and Eugene Griffis, sisters Agnes Pugh, Virginia Cersey, and Lamar Griffis.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Lois Tucker. Sons Ricky Waters (Anita), and Terry Waters (Eva). Grandchildren Erik Waters (Heather), Sheena Broughton, and Lisa Sikes (Evan). Great-grandchildren Tone, Kylee, Madison, Jenna, Aslynn, Aleigha, Brooklynn, and Kiera.

Services will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Lannie Road Baptist Church; visitation beginning at 9:00 AM and a funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at 1:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205.
