    John F. Huber III, 63, of Palatka, passed away suddenly Saturday, October 4, 2003.

    He was a native of Warren, Ohio and had resided in Palatka since 1947. He graduated from Palatka High School in 1957. He had worked as a photographer for the Palatka Daily News and Jacksonville Journal. He also had a distinguished career with Rodeheaver Boys Ranch, Citizens National Bank and the Putnam County Teachers Credit Union. He was also a freelance photographer for many years. He was a longtime member of College Park Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon among many other responsibilities.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Huber; and his granddaughter, Emily Ashley.

    He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Greene Huber; a son, ACC (AW) John F. Huber IV; daughters and sons-in-law, Christi and Bruce Bellamy; Julie and Jerome Ashley; grandchildren, Jessica Lauren Bellamy, Alexander Bellamy and Elizabeth Ashley; sisters, Patti (Charles) Williams and Peggy Mangum.

    Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home of Palatka.
    Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8 at College Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Beauchamp officiating.

    Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens.
    Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home of Palatka is in charge of arrangements.

    Carl P. Greene Sr., 85, of Palatka died Thursday at Putnam Memorial Nursing Home in Palatka following a long illness.

    A native of Columbia County, he had lived in Palatka for 46 years, coming from Jacksonville. He retired as a police officer from the city of Jacksonville in 1946 after 20 years of service. He also retired as an electrician from the former Hudson Pulp and Paper Corp. in Palatka in 1973 after 26 years of employment; he was instrumental in starting the Hudson Employee Death Benefit Fund and the organization of the Georgia-Pacific Credit Union there. He was a member of the West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church in Jacksonville and a member of Palatka Lodge No. 34, F&AM.

    He is survived by his wife, Mable Griffin Greene of Palatka; a daughter, Betty G. Huber of Palatka; a son, Carl P. Greene Jr. of Palatka; two sisters, Bertie Lewis of Jacksonville and Ethel Dedge of Jasper; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with the Rev. Kenneth Olsen officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted at the funeral home by Palatka Lodge No. 34, F&AM. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, with a committal service at 2 p.m.

    Born in Bell, she had lived in Palatka since moving from Jacksonville in 1947. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the North Jacksonville Advent Christian Church in Jacksonville and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 33 in Palatka.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl P. Greene Sr., and her great-granddaughter, Emily Mae Anne Ashley.

    She is survived by her daughter, Betty Huber of Palatka; son, Carl P. Greene Jr. of Palatka; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Rev. Sanford Colley officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville.
