    DR. EDWIN J. WELLS
    WILMINGTON -- Dr. Edwin J. Wells, 73, of 2205 Gillette Drive, formerly of Fayetteville, died Tuesday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

    Dr. Wells was a retired plastic surgeon, on the staff of James Walder Memorial Hospital and New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club.

    A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in St. James Episcopal Church. Arrangements are being handled by Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.

    The family will receive friends at the home.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 810 Princess St., Wilmington, N.C. 28401, or to the Woodberry Forest Amici Fund, Woodberry Forest School, Woodberry Forest, Va. 22989.

    LOUISE WARNER WELLS Louise Warner Wells, of Wilmington, NC, passed into eternal life January 29, 2016. Born June 27, 1925, in Wilmington, NC, Louise Huntingdon Warner was the elder daughter of Ronald Bruce Warner and Louise Stephens Warner. Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 48 years, Edwin J. Wells, M.D. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine W. Manning, grandson John H. Manning, wife Angela, and daughter, Reagan Marie; her son, Edwin J. Wells, III, and wife, the Rev. Dr. Patricia Hawkins Wells, grandson Ronald Bruce Wells and wife, Meghan, grandson David Williamson Wells and wife, Liz; her sister Mrs. Shirleigh Warner Marvin, nephew Freeman F. Marvin, wife, Monica, and their daughters; her beloved niece, Virginia Corbett Marshall and husband, John R. Marshall, their children and grandchildren; and her special cousin Calvin F. Wells, his wife Shannon, and their children and grandchildren. Also surviving Mrs. Wells is her loved and devoted friend Ms. Regina Brown, who for more than six years was her tireless companion, care giver and helper. Mrs. Wells lived most of her life in Wilmington. She was educated in the Wilmington public schools and attended Averett College in Danville, VA. A life long Episcopalian, she was for many years a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Wilmington. She enjoyed being involved in the social life of Wilmington, which included service through the Junior League and the Medical Auxiliary, as well as memberships in The Cape Fear Country Club, The Surf Club and The Carolina Yacht Club. For nearly thirty years she was an active member of the R and R Society Book Club and enjoyed the intellectual stimulation and comradery of this extraordinary group of friends. Other interests of hers were antique furniture, travel, fashion, dancing, reading and historical preservation. A private interment service will be held at a later date at Oakdale Cemetery. Her daughter-in-law, the Rev. Dr. Patricia Hawkins Wells, will conduct the service.

    Her family wishes that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, the Davis Community, or a charity of the donor's choice.

    Fayetteville, Oct. 16. Edwin Julius Wells, 55, cotton broker and warehouse man died at his home here Monday night following a heart attack. He was widely known in this section. He was a deacon of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Kiwanis club and took a major interest in civic affairs. Mr. Wells is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mamie Highsmith Wells, a daughter, Mrs. William H. Corbett, of West Point, N.Y., a son, Pfc. Edwin J. Wells, Jr., a medical student in the University of Pennsylvania, two granddaughters, a brother, Harold Wells, of Wilmington, and a sister, Mrs. Charles H. Pritchard, of Sandersville, Ga. Funeral will be held at the residence Wednesday at 3 p.m.
