DURHAM - James "Jamie" Cress Willeford III, 53, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012.
He was born October 10, 1958, in Cabarrus County, NC to Mr. and Mrs. James Cress Willeford Jr.
As a therapist he dedicated his life to helping others, especially children. Jamie loved to read and write, and had a passion for photography and the outdoors. He was kind, compassionate, and a loving father.
Jamie is Survived by three sons; two sisters; two nieces, two nephews; and a grandson.
An informal memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at the S.E.E.D.S Community Garden, 706 Gilbert St. Durham, NC, 27701, from 2-3:30 p.m.

James 'Jamie' Cress Willeford III
Jamie Willeford was the son of the late Lucille Helms and James Cress Willeford, Jr.
He was a graduate of Concord High School, The University of North Carolina - Charlotte and North Carolina Central University from which he received a Master's Degree.
Dedicated to helping others he was a therapist at the Durham Counseling Center where he gave special attention to children.
Jamie enjoyed many aspects of life: reading writing, music, photography and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Carol McCrae, three sons: Linder Willeford and wife Sarah and grandson Ian; Evan Willeford and Tanner Willeford all of Durham. Two sisters, Berta Cresslyn Willeford Trexler and brother in Law Lee Trexler, and Mary W. Morris. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.
