    Mrs. Shirley Dicks Markham, 92 of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City. Mrs. Markham was a lifelong resident of Columbia County and daughter to the late R.P. Dicks, Sr. and Ruth Jones Dicks. She was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church and a graduate of the 1939 class at Columbia High School. Mrs. Markham was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Hubert Leighton Markham in 1995 and one brother, R.P. “Bob” Dicks, Jr.

    Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Jim) Duncan of Otto, NC and Jan (Patrick) Womble of Lake City; two sisters, Bertie Mae Pursley and Alice Mangle both of Lake City; one sister-in-law, Frances Dicks, Lake City; three grandchildren, Scott (Andrea) Duncan of Pensacola, FL, Kelly Ann (Justin) Kite of Starke and Brad (Brandy) Womble of Lake City; eight great grandchildren, Troy Leighton Kite, Cole Kite, Gavin Kite, Rachel Duncan, Timothy Duncan, Lilly Swan, Ellie Womble and Avery Womble; and her special care giver, Angie Douglas of Lake City also survives.

    Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Hopeful Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Rodriguez and Rev. Hugh Dampier officiating. Interment will follow at Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7:00 PM, Friday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center, Gideons International or the Lulu Baptist Church Building Fund.
