    Notes:

    Died:
Don D. Pacey, 72, went home to be with the Lord March 15, 2007. He resided in Eagar for close to 18 years.

He was born on May 19, 1934, in Clay Center, Kan., to Leonard Pacey and Charlotte Helen Hauck Pacey.

Pacey was a Navy veteran, having served from 1952 to 1955, mainly in Hawaii. He served in law enforcement, working in El Mirage and Willcox as assistant chief of police.

After the Navy, he worked as a welder across the country on the El Paso Natural Gas Pipeline, as a pipe fitter/welder at Hecla Mine outside of Arizona City, and then in Mexico as supervisor over pipeline construction for a mine in Nacozari de Garcia.

Later he worked in Saudi Arabia for several years as pipeline supervisor over the Northern Area Pipeline before returning to the U.S.

Upon retirement, he maintained his welding skills by creating various tools and helpful items for use around his home. He also loved working in the yard and garden, and his hard work paid off when the yard was featured on the 2006 Home and Garden Tour in Eagar and Springerville.

In recent years, he was also part of a team who planted and cared for flower beds at the Eagar Cemetery through the summer months.

Pacey was a volunteer with the Apache County Health Department and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). For his tireless efforts, he was awarded the title of Eagar's Citizen of the Year award with his wife in 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca J. Pacey of Eagar; stepson Sgt. John William Flanders III and his wife, Donna, of Lawton, Okla.; son LeDell Pacey of Phoenix; daughter LaDonna Pacey of Phoenix; sister Shirley M. Pacey of Washington, Kan.; sister-in-law Mary Alice Pacey of Washington, Kan.; nephew John O. Taylor of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Charlotte Helen Pacey of Washington, Kan.; daughter Shirley Leighann Pacey of Phoenix; and brother Leonard Marvin Pacey of Washington, Kan.

Pacey was the grandson of Fred and MaryAnn Kitchener Pacey of Kan., and John F. and Charlotte Ellen Ramey Hauck.

Pacey's family and friends would like to express that he was a wonderful husband and father, always made his family proud, and they are so thankful he shared your life with them. His fun ways and terrific sense of humor will be sadly missed by all those blessed enough to know him.

Anyone wishing to remember Pacey may make donation to the American Cancer Society or to RTA Hospice in his name.

Burnham Mortuary of Eagar handled arrangements.
