Mr. Marvin Powell Jenkins, Sr., age 89, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011 at Baptist Medical Center - Nassau.

Born in Reidsville, GA, he was the son of the late Milton and Leona Kennedy Jenkins. Growing up in the Reidsville / Collins, GA area, Mr. Jenkins served in the CCC before enlisting in the Army Air Corp. He served in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. In the mid 1940's, Mr. Jenkins moved to Fernandina and began working as a Mechanic at Container Corporation of America. He remained at CCA until retiring as a Supervisor in the mid 1980's.

Preceding him in death is his wife, Connell Ward Jenkins.

Mr. Jenkins leaves behind, two sons, Marvin P. "Mark" Jenkins, Jr. (Dale), Fernandina Beach, FL, Frank M. Jenkins (Sally), Metter, GA, a sister, Ronnie Powell, Collins, GA, four grandchildren, John Matthew Jenkins, Jr., Matthew Jenkins, Travis Jenkins, Tammy Lee and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from the graveside in Bosque Bello Cemetery, with Reverend Frank Camarotti, officiating.

Mr. Jenkins will be laid to rest beside his wife.

His family will receive friends on Saturday, from 9:00 am until the hour of service, at the graveside.

Connell W. Jenkins, 75, of Fernandina Beach, passed away Friday, September 5, 2003.

Mrs. Jenkins was a native and lifelong resident of Fernandina Beach. She was a 1943 graduate of Fernandina Beach High School, and retired as a secretary to Robert L. Craig, M.D. Mrs. Jenkins was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin P. Jenkins; 3 sons: Marvin P. (Dale) Jenkins, Jr., John A. Jenkins, all of Fernandina Beach, and Frank M. (Sally) Jenkins of Lorain, Ohio; 3 Brothers: Gleason Ward, Montgomery, AL, Bill Ward and Drew Ward both of Fernandina Beach; 4 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at Oxley- Heard Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday in the Burgess Chapel at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Bosque- Bello Cemtery.
