    PROSPERITY - David Wilkes Stone, Jr., 84, widower of Mary Platt Stone, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011.

    Born on June 29, 1927, in Prosperity, he was the son of the late David Wilkes Stone, Sr. and Brunelle Lominick Stone.

    Mr. Stone was a World War II Navy veteran. He was employed by Cherokee Construction for 25 years and retired from Bonitz Construction. He was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church, the St. Philip's Fire Department and the Prosperity Wildlife Federation. Mr. Stone enjoyed hunting, fishing, and having fish fry's and suppers at the pond with his family and friends.

    He is survived by daughters, Deborah (Bernard) Herman and Robin (Jimmy) Richardson both of Prosperity; a sister, Martha Yonce of Augusta, GA; a brother, Johnson Stone of Missouri; and a granddaughter, Taylor Richardson.

    He was predeceased by a grandson, Hunter James Richardson; and a sister, Louise Wicker.

    Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2011, at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick.

    Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

    Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 â€' 6:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

    Memorials may be made to St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 2461 St. Philip's Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108 or to St. Philip's Fire Department, c/o Aubrey Horne, 254 Walnut Grove Lane, Pomaria, SC 29126.

    Obituary on funeral home web site, 27 Dec 2003: Brunelle L. Stone, 98, of Pomaria, widow of David W. Stone, died December 24, 2003 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born in Pomaria, she was a daughter of the late J. W. Lominick, Sr. and Lallie Sligh Lominick. Mrs. Stone was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Joy Fellowship and the B Sunday School Class. She is survived by sons, David W. Stone, Jr. of Prosperity and William Johnson Stone of MI; a daughter, Martha Evelyn Yonce of North Augusta; 12 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stone was predeceased by a daughter, Louise Wicker. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Friday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 P.M. Condolence notes may be sent to www.mcswainevans.com.
