Ivol Henry Dicks

Ivol Henry Dicks, 84, of Lake Butler passed away peacefully on January 23, 2011, at the Avalon Care Center in Lake City after a brief illness. He was born in Columbia County, living most of his life in Union County. He was a farmer, but retired from U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. He was the son of the late Ollie Dicks and Lizzie Williams Dicks. he was preceded in death by his loving wife Letha Brown Dicks and two brothers: Harvey and Earl Dicks and a sister, Ora Lee Milton (Johnnie) Milton. He was a Mormon.

He is survived by his daughter: Marilyn Williams (Denny) of Lake City, son: Dale Dicks (Sheila) of Lake Butler and two grandchildren: Scott Dicks and Jennifer Dicks.

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery, with Elder Wendell Nettles conducting the services. Burial will follow under the care of ARCHER FUNERAL HOME of Lake Butler. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Letha Adelia Brown Dicks, 77 of rural Lake Butler died Friday evening at Haven Hospice of Lake City after a brief illness. Mrs. Dicks was born in Union County where she lived most of her life. She was a housewife and enjoyed working outside in her yard and spending time with her family. She was the daughter of the late Frank Brown and Leatie Crawford Brown. She was preceded in death by a brother, Archie Lee Brown of Lake City and a brother-in-law, Larry Richardson of Lake Butler.

Mrs. Dicks is survived by: Her husband of 60 years: Ivol Dicks of Lake Butler. 1 Daughter: Marilyn (Dean) Williams of Lake City. 1 Son: Dale (Sheila) Dicks of Lake Butler. 2 Sisters: Stella Mae (Charles) Tomlinson and Frances Richardson all of Lake Butler. 2 Brothers: Millard (Betty) Brown of Lake City and Mana Lee (Linda) Brown of Land O’ Lakes. 1 Sister-in-law: Audrey Brown of Lake City. 2 Grandchildren: Scott Dicks and Jennifer Dicks both of Lake Butler. Several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, July 28, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Wendell Nettles officiating. Burial will follow. Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at ARCHER FUNERAL HOME Sunday afternoon from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M.

Bobby Jack Smith, 78, of Lake City passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center (Haven Hospice). He was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to the late R.D. and Edna [Thompkins] Smith and had lived in Lake City since 1992. Bobby was a kind and loving father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, writing, and playing chess. He was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church and would study his Bible so as to better witness to others about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheila (Dale) Dicks of Lake Butler; brothers, Billy Joe Smith of Auburndale, FL and Ronald Dean Smith of Alabama; sister, Edith DeBarry of Auburndale, FL; grandchildren, Scott & Jennifer Dicks both of Lake Butler, FL.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Sardis Baptist Church in Worthington Springs with Reverend Tim Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to service time (10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.) at Sardis Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 289 SE Hopeful Drive, Lake City, FL 32025 or to the Sardis Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O.
