Bobby Jack Smith, 78, of Lake City passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center (Haven Hospice). He was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to the late R.D. and Edna [Thompkins] Smith and had lived in Lake City since 1992. Bobby was a kind and loving father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, writing, and playing chess. He was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church and would study his Bible so as to better witness to others about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his daughter, Sheila (Dale) Dicks of Lake Butler; brothers, Billy Joe Smith of Auburndale, FL and Ronald Dean Smith of Alabama; sister, Edith DeBarry of Auburndale, FL; grandchildren, Scott & Jennifer Dicks both of Lake Butler, FL.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Sardis Baptist Church in Worthington Springs with Reverend Tim Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to service time (10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.) at Sardis Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 289 SE Hopeful Drive, Lake City, FL 32025 or to the Sardis Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 60, Worthington Springs, FL 32697.
