Josephine "JoAnn" Smith Register, 75, of Lake City died Sunday, January 20, 2010 following a brief illness. Mrs. Register was the daughter of the late Leroy and Betty Smith. She was born and raised in Lake City, FL. She was a graduate of Columbia High School in 1953. A devout Christian and active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church who served as Church Treasurer for 24 years. She had retired from Columbia Bank after 24 years of service. Mrs. JoAnn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother who enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Leo Register; daughters, Sharon (Skipper) Mimbs, Bonnie (Brian) Hepworth and Darlene (Mike) Barrs; son, Bruce (B.J.) Register; and her sister, Betty Huchingson all of Lake City, FL; grandchildren, Brian (Lindsey) Mimbs, Timothy (Tricia) Mimbs, Brad (Tracy) Clyatt, Christopher & Caleb Carmichael, Brian & Brad Barrs, Angel Register and Devin Register; great grandchildren, Taryn Clyatt and Bryson Mimbs also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home 3596 U.S. Hwy 441 S., Lake City, FL 32025 (386) 752-1954, with Rev. Brian Mimbs, Rev. Keith Norris, and Rev. Lewis Daniels officiating. Interment will follow at the Register Family Cemetery on U.S. 441 North. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, June 22, 2010 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
